Robbery and Break & Enter Understanding Robbery and Break & Enter

Being the victim of a robbery or a break and enter can be a frightening and unsettling experience. These crimes often leave people feeling vulnerable, unsafe, and violated—whether they occurred at home, at work, or in a public place.

  • Robbery involves someone using violence, threats, or intimidation to steal from a person directly. This is considered a violent crime.
  • Break and Enter (commonly called a “B&E”) usually involves someone unlawfully entering a home, business, or other property to commit theft. It may or may not involve direct contact with the victim but can still cause serious emotional and financial harm.

Both crimes can lead to lasting fear, disrupted routines, and emotional trauma—even when nothing was taken or no one was physically harmed.
